IPL Skin Treatments

IPL works by delivering broad-spectrum light into the skin, selectively absorbed by haemoglobin in blood vessels and melanin in pigmentation. The light energy breaks these targets down without damaging surrounding skin, allowing the body to clear them naturally.

It is highly effective for rosacea and facial redness, thread veins and broken capillaries, sun spots and age spots, uneven pigmentation, sun-damaged skin, and general photoageing. It can be used on the face, neck, décolletage and hands.

At Mulberry House we use the Lumenis Stellar M22™ — one of the most advanced IPL platforms available, allowing precise targeting across a wide range of skin conditions and skin types.

A full facial treatment takes 20 to 30 minutes. Most patients describe a warm snapping sensation during treatment, which is well tolerated. There is no downtime — mild redness may be present for a few hours afterwards, and treated pigmentation will darken temporarily before fading over the following one to two weeks. This is a normal and expected part of the process.

A course of three to five treatments spaced three to four weeks apart is recommended for most concerns. Results are cumulative and continue to improve throughout the course.

For skin concerns that are purely tone-related — redness, thread veins, pigmentation — standalone IPL is the more targeted and appropriate choice.
