Crow's Feet

Lines at the corners of the eyes.

Crow's feet are the fine lines that fan out from the outer corners of the eyes — caused by the repeated contraction of the orbicularis oculi muscle when we smile, squint or laugh. They are among the earliest dynamic lines to appear, partly because the skin around the eye is the thinnest on the face and has relatively little supporting structure beneath it.

For many patients crow's feet are a natural and accepted part of expression — the lines that appear when smiling are not a concern. What prompts treatment is when the lines become visible at rest, when they deepen significantly, or when they contribute to an overall tired or aged appearance around the eye area.

As skin loses collagen and elasticity with age, crow's feet become more established. The texture around the eye area becomes crepey, fine lines multiply, and the area as a whole can look hollowed or tired. Treatment is most effective when it addresses both the muscle activity driving dynamic lines and the skin quality that determines how those lines appear.

Treatments to consider.

Anti-wrinkle injections are the primary treatment for crow's feet — precise, low doses relax the orbicularis oculi muscle, significantly softening or eliminating dynamic lines at the outer eye. One of the most reliably effective anti-wrinkle treatments available.

Tixel® is uniquely suited to the periorbital area — safe to use very close to the eye, it improves skin quality, crepiness and fine lines around and beneath the eye in a way that most other resurfacing technologies cannot.

Treatments that may help: Anti-Wrinkle Injections, Tixel®, Skin Boosters, Microneedling, Professional Skincare.
