Botox® Anti-Wrinkle Injections

Anti-wrinkle injections remain one of the most effective, most studied, and most requested treatments in aesthetic medicine. When performed well, the results are almost invisible — not because nothing has changed, but because everything has changed in exactly the right way.

Botulinum toxin type A has been used in medicine since the 1980s, initially for neurological conditions, and has been established as a cosmetic treatment for over thirty years. It works by temporarily relaxing the specific facial muscles responsible for dynamic lines — the lines caused by repeated movement and expression. As those muscles soften, the overlying skin smooths.

At Mulberry House, the recommended product is Bocouture, a highly purified botulinum toxin manufactured by Merz Pharmaceuticals. Unlike some other brands, Bocouture contains no accessory proteins, which reduces the small risk of antibody development over time. For patients who specifically request BOTOX® — this is also available.

The most commonly treated areas are forehead lines, frown lines between the brows, crow's feet around the eyes, and smile lines.

It can also be used for lines around the mouth and chin, a downturned mouth, jawline definition using the Nefertiti technique, eyebrow shaping and subtle lift, facial asymmetry, and excessive sweating (hyperhidrosis).

Every treatment begins with a consultation. Your clinician will assess your concerns, discuss your goals, and agree an approach before any treatment is given.

The treatment itself is straightforward. A series of small injections are placed precisely into the relevant muscles using a very fine needle. Discomfort is brief and minimal. Any slight redness or swelling settles within half an hour, and there is no meaningful downtime.

Results begin to appear within a few days and are complete at around two weeks. The effects typically last three to four months. With regular treatment, many patients find the results last longer over time — a good number of Mulberry House patients maintain their results with just two appointments a year.

Anti-wrinkle injections work best for dynamic lines — lines caused by movement and expression. If your primary concern is lines visible even at rest, or volume loss, then fillers or other treatments may be more appropriate.

This treatment is not appropriate if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, have certain neuromuscular conditions, have had a previous reaction to botulinum toxin, or are under 18.
