Radiesse®

Immediate results. Long-term benefit. A filler that keeps working long after you leave the clinic.

Radiesse® is a dermal filler that not only restores volume immediately but also stimulates your skin to produce its own collagen over the months that follow. Two mechanisms of action, in a single treatment.

A filler with a dual action.

Most dermal fillers work by adding volume using hyaluronic acid. Radiesse® works differently. Its active component is calcium hydroxylapatite — tiny microspheres suspended in a smooth gel carrier, made from minerals that occur naturally in the human body.

When injected, the gel component provides an immediate volumising effect, lifting and smoothing the treated area straight away. Over the following weeks and months, as the gel is gradually and safely absorbed, the calcium hydroxylapatite microspheres stimulate the body’s own collagen-producing cells. The result is a layer of new, natural collagen that continues to support the tissue long after the product itself has been metabolised.

The outcome is results that last significantly longer than most hyaluronic acid fillers — typically a year or more, and often considerably longer.

Radiesse® has been in clinical use since 2000 and has one of the longest track records of any injectable treatment available. It is fully biocompatible, completely synthetic, and suitable for vegetarians.

The concerns it addresses.

Radiesse® is particularly well suited to areas where firm, structural support is needed — where the goal is not just to add softness but to restore definition and lift.

It works well for cheek volume and definition, nasolabial folds, marionette lines and mouth corners, jawline definition and jowling, chin projection and shape, and hand rejuvenation — restoring volume to thinning, aged hands.

It is not used for the lips or very fine superficial lines around the eyes, where softer hyaluronic acid fillers are more appropriate.

From consultation to results.

Every Radiesse® treatment at Mulberry House begins with a consultation. Your clinician will assess the areas of concern, discuss your goals, and confirm whether Radiesse® is the most appropriate product — or whether a different filler, or combination of treatments, would achieve a better result for you.

The treatment itself is straightforward. Radiesse® is injected using a fine needle or cannula into the target areas. The gel carrier contains a local anaesthetic, so discomfort is minimal. The volumising effect is visible immediately. Some mild swelling or occasional bruising may occur and typically settles within a few days. There is no meaningful downtime.

Over the following months, as the collagen-stimulating effect builds, the results often improve further before gradually and naturally fading. Most patients find results last a year or more — and with a maintenance treatment at the right point, the improvement can be sustained and built upon over time.

An honest assessment.

Radiesse® is an excellent choice for patients looking for structural improvement in the mid and lower face, with results that last longer than standard hyaluronic acid fillers. Its dual action — immediate volume plus collagen stimulation — makes it particularly good value as a long-term investment in facial quality.

It works well for patients who want firmer, more defined results in areas like the cheeks, jawline or chin, those looking for longer-lasting results than standard fillers provide, those who want the added benefit of collagen stimulation alongside immediate improvement, patients considering hand rejuvenation, and those who prefer a fully synthetic, biocompatible product with a long safety record.

It may not be the right choice if the primary concern is very fine superficial lines or lip volume, if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, or if you have a history of allergic reactions to any of its components.

One important consideration: unlike hyaluronic acid fillers, Radiesse® cannot be dissolved with an enzyme if you are unhappy with the result. This is not a reason to avoid it — its safety record over more than two decades is excellent — but it is something to discuss openly at consultation, and another reason why having an experienced, medically qualified injector matters.
